make a second straight stitch, leaving a gap in
between your stitches. (Fig 3&4)

TASK 6: Practice hemming stitch
1 Thread the needle and Make a double knot at the end Fig 2
of the thread.
2 Mark the hemline on the inside of the fabric as shown
in Fig 1.

3 Pick up one or two threads of fabric close to the hem.
4 Push the needle up through the hem and pull it through
as shown Fig 2.
5 Move ¼ inch to the left and repeat the stitch.
6 Finish the seam with a back knot
7 Simply make a loop into the last stitch you made and
draw the needle through it. When you pull tightly, you’ll
make a knot that secures the stitch. (Fig 3)
TASK 7: Practice over casting stitch
1 Thread a needle with a color that matches your fabric 2 Insert the needle through the fabric, about ¼ inch
as shown in Fig 1. below the raw edge as shown in Fig 2
